In response, the primary purposes of this article are to introduce a technology tool called Screencast-O-Matic (SOM), its potentials, and possible practices of using SOM that EFL lecturers might adopt for their teaching and learning purposes, specifically in the current pandemic era. In that transition, teachers often do not have enough space and time to explore various technology to support their teaching and learning practices that should be done flexibly in multiple places and times. The COVID-19 situation causes a sudden and unexpected shift of face-to-face pedagogy to emergency remote teaching mode.
Screencast-O-Matic has tutorials to learn how to use the software. Go to "Add Materials" > "Add File" > "Upload." Schoology will need a few minutes to process the video.
If uploading the file to Schoology, the file must be under 500MB.Then you will have to share it with the end-users (typically anyone with the link can view it). If you are uploading a file to Google Drive, Drive will spend some time processing the video.You should now be able to launch the program from your computer to record, edit, and save a video file.Choose "Team Plan." If you are asked for the access URL, type in "carthagecollege." During the installation, the software may ask what kind of plan you are on.Choose whether you'd like to "Start Screencast-O-Matic" and if you'd like to "Create Desktop Shortcut." Click "Finish.".Click "Install for anyone using this computer.".The Setup Wizard will walk you through the installation.
